Bistek/Tapa
1 lb beef top round
5 tbsp teriyaki sauce
2 tbsp apple cider
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp brown sugar
Water
Marinade overnight
Let the meat simmer in its own marinade til it reduces and then remove meat to fry in another pan (fry onions in same pan early on/ set aside). Put back fried meat in the same sauce, simmer again til sauce is almost gone...
Hubby likes this last bistek, but I don't. It looks like tapa king to me. I have to add more sauce next time...

So this is how I cooked my last adobo...
My adobo has been very inconsistent, but the last one I made was close to how I like it to taste. I want to stick to it.
Fry garlic in olive oil, add pork, let it brown, add pepper corn and bay leaves, add 1/4 cup soy sauce, add 1/2 cup water, after simmering add 1/5 cup vinegar, 1 tbsp brown sugar, and let boil n simmer to reduce liquid. add cornstarch mixture in the end if you want the sauce to be a little thicker.
XS: There is also another adobo which I really love, and that's my mom's adobo! It's simmered and all the remaining sauce just evaporates and the meat was like fried in its own oil. the toasted garlic in the bottom of the pan is just heaven!

Leche Flan Disaster
People make mistakes... and wannabe chef (like me) makes mistakes too... :-(
I totally ruined a leche flan made of 7 eggs! I learned my lesson! Do not attempt to use a makeshift STEAMER!!
